At Budgeting Beacon, we take your financial privacy seriously. Your trust is the foundation of everything we build. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

Information We Collect

  • Account Information: Name, email address, and password when you create an account.
  • Financial Data: Income sources, bills, debts, savings goals, and transaction data you enter into the app.
  • Usage Data: How you interact with the app to help us improve the experience.
  • Uploaded Files: Bank statements or CSV files you upload for AI categorization (processed and not stored permanently).

How We Use Your Data

  • To provide and improve the Budgeting Beacon service
  • To generate your financial projections, calendar, and reports
  • To send bill reminders and notifications you've opted into
  • To provide AI-powered spending categorization
  • We never sell your financial data to third parties
  • We never share your data with advertisers

Data Security

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We use Supabase with Row-Level Security to ensure you can only access your own data. Your financial information is yours — period.

Couples & Shared Access

When you invite a partner to share your budget, they can view and edit the shared financial data. You can revoke access at any time. Each person maintains their own login credentials.

Data Retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated financial data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We use a localStorage preference for your light/dark theme choice. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies.
